Traditional Plastering

Lath and plaster buildings can be restored using either traditional materials like non-hydraulic lime putty based materials or modern materials depending on whether the building is listed by Heritage New Zealand or if not what the owner wants coupled with the needs of the building.

Brick or stone walled buildings, if these buildings have been built using lime mortars they must be restored using lime mortars or lime plasters. Internally for the float and set traditional non-hydraulic lime putty based materials must be used in order for the building to breath. If the outside is to be rendered then the same applies with the mortar again being a lime mortar.

Sometimes the building can be all three.
